KATIKATI RUGBY & SPORTS CLUB

MISSION: Our goal as a club is to “Grow and develop the sporting environment in our community, for our community”.

• Established in 1880, Katikati Rugby Club is a founder club in both the Bay of Plenty and Thames Valley Rugby Unions

• Katikati is the only club to still wear the colours of both the Bay of Plenty and Thames Valley unions on their rugby shirts

• The first All Black captain (in 1905), Dave Gallaher played rugby in Katikati as a child

• Past Katikati Rugby Club player Graeme Moore is the highest try-scoring player in Bay of Plenty rugby union history

• The Katikati Senior Men’s second game, against Tauranga Rugby Club at Tauranga Domain on July 31, 1880, was the first interclub game recorded in the Bay of Plenty

FOR ALL GRADES FOR 2024 SEASON


Katikati Rugby and Sports is seeking applications for Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Manager positions for the 2024 season for our All Senior Men’s and College rugby teams, competing in Bay of Plenty competitions.

  • Senior Development
  • Colts/Under 85kg (combined)
  • College Rugby                                                         

With strong foundations in place, we are looking for coaches and managers who have the drive and ability to guide a team as well as the skills and ability to develop players to their full potential.


Applicants need to demonstrate the following:

  • Previous coaching experience at a level relevant to the grade
  • Currently has or willingly to obtain a World Rugby Level 2 Coaching credential.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve player skill sets, physically and technically.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor players.
  • A track record of success, underpinned by proven season and game planning skills.
  • Has high morals, integrity and values
  • Foster a strong team culture that helps ensure positive results.
  • Form and build positive relationships and communication lines with coaches and management of all teams.
  • Be able to work with players from all walks of life and backgrounds.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with all key club stakeholders (Players, Committee, Supporters & Sponsors)
  • Managers will need to be organised and have sound management and organisational skills.
